honey, i'm home!
cambodia was amazing, absolutely amazing. i could happily spend a week in angkor, exploring all the temples, examining the carvings, climbing up and down the ruins. in my head, i am already planning for many repeat visits, both solo and with friends. i kid you not!
the only things in my everyday bag was cameras, cameras and more cameras. besides my film cameras, there was also two additional digital cameras that my dad and little brother lumped on me. thanks dudes. but in any case, i managed fine. i actually shot ten rolls of film within 5 days!
i can't wait to develop them and see the results!

tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow
i am going to cambodia tomorrow! i am sure you are sick of me mentioning it by now. but i am just so excited to be on vacation and out of this office. i started working immediately after graduation trip, while most of my friends had a bit more time off, i was already working hard and fast in my cubicle. so you can imagine just how long i have been longing for this vacation. it's so close, i can practically taste it!
i started packing only last night, procrastinator that i am. i think i took the longest packing the cameras and films that i wanted to bring. it took awhile but i finally decided on the holga, the golden half and the fisheye.
and i think i am a bit mad for bringing 20 rolls of film for a five day trip. but i do have good reasons! the iso 400 films are specifically for the fisheye because we all know that it's a light sucking monster, and if weather turns cloudy, i can easily switch to using the fisheye for all shots. i have about 8 slide films that are meant specifically for the holga, probably a little too much but they range from iso 50 to 200 so i am prepared for sunny to partially sunny weather. and then i have the iso100-200s films which are meant for the golden half for constant clicking along the way.
do i make sense to you? because i still think i sound a little mad -_-

but right now, i am still debating if i should bring my fuji instax. i already have three cameras stashed in my bag, do i really need another? help!

lomotion school doubles competition
a little while back, i mentioned that i joined a doubles competition on singapore's lomography forum lomotion. i got news late last month that me and my partner won second place! i gasped fairly loudly in public when i saw the text from the organiser! both of us won a $50 voucher for thirtysix, the toy camera store in singapore. i have been down to the store but i can't decide what to get yet. the smena 8m is very tempting but i have more than enough cameras for the time being (ahemahem!). i will probably use it to buy films that i usually wouldn't get.
while i ponder how best to use my prize money, here are some of the shots in the roll that i really liked. i used my holga 135bc while my partner used his lc-a. film is kodak ektar 100.

the first week of december
hello everybody, i hope you have been keeping well this first week into december. it's been raining almost everyday in singapore. difficult to play around with cameras but fantastic at night to cuddle up and fall alseep.
is anyone surprised that it's still only the first week of december. because to me, it feels like december has been here for a long long while. even though, it's december and almost the holidays, work hasn't been slowing down in the office at all. it's still go-go-go! and the weekends are jam packed with concerts, movies and meals with my friends. this coming weekend will be full one again, errands with my mum on saturday to get ready for cambodia, packing for cambodia, shoe shopping with friends. hopefully i can finished up all the rolls of film left dangling in my camera. i really want to see how the fisheye 2 and the lomography xr redscale film will be like before i leave.
i actually have quite a few things to blog about, but time isn't giving me the chance to do so. as it is, i am dashing this post off while waiting for my colleagues to tidy up for the day (it's 7:35pm!). to make up for my blog silence, i am going to share a few links for some japanese photography blogs that i have been drooling over daily. i believe they are on a 365 photo projects.

oh fisheye, you so fly
i swear i really wasn't planning on buying another camera so soon after the instax mini. i had earlier earmarked the fisheye for a possible purchase next year but suddenly lomography started giving out piggy points, and then a 10% discount, and then more piggy points. in a flash, i managed to gather enough piggies and discounts to minus off 40 usd from the total amount. it was too good to be true and before i knew it, i had clicked pay and a fisheye 2 was hurtling from hong kong towards me! i completed my order on monday and the fisheye 2 was sitting happily on my desk on wednesday. two pats on lomography's back for the incredibly quick shipping!
i snapped my unboxing process.
i snapped my unboxing process.
as part of lomography's retail therapy promo, they also threw in a klick max 200 (expired) film for every order. Overall, pretty sweet deal. Here's hoping that there will be a sunny day this week for me to run a quick test roll through it!
oh and tonight, i discovered two wonderful blogs, here comes the sun and andrew+carissa. they give me hope.

hello twitter!
thanks to a little prodding from nicola (whose blog i am a big fan of) i finally set up the twitter account for this blog! i had been procrastinating for the past few months because twitter doesn't allow for the full name of my blog to be used as the account name and i couldn't decide how to shorten it. but i finally bit the bullet and just did it.
i linked up my tumblr account to my twitter so if you follow me, so you will know whenever i update my tumblr. of course, i will tweet about new blog posts as well.
my twitter link on the sidebar is now live so let's follow one another and become better friends :)

my neighbourhood #4
the last selection of images from this roll of film. this is my first time using a black&white roll of film, i enjoyed experimenting with it in all sorts of light. i shot in normal light, sunny days, the golden hour, just before dusk, and the lucky 100 has performed phenomenally in all conditions. in bright sunlight, the image seems to 'glow' slightly (eg. the left image of the second picture), which is an effect that reminds me of solaris film. and as you all know, i adore my solaris. even when an area isn't very well-lit or with fading light, the film still managed to capture the image (eg. the swings, the bicycle and this pictures). it provides a lot of grey tones as well, giving the images a softer and old-time look. it's also fairly grainy, which i personally don't mind, i think it adds to the old-fashion feel.

lauren carney - thank you so much! i hope you will come back and visit.
ida - hi ida! yep, i know you have one! i read through loads of your blog's archives and i saw it. oops! this is just showing how much of a blog stalker i am! hee! but you have to use your golden half more often, i love your pictures!
chubskulit - thank you for following, you guys mean the world to me!
rhianne - you better get one soon! but i am curious, does england have the same drinks like in singapore? i know the us have more options. i wish i could drink those lattes in cold cold weather, it would feel so much more christmassy.

much love monday: big red heart
it's another monday, bringing us a little closer to the end of the year. not sure whether to be happy or sad that 2010 is coming to an end.
list of loves
- starbucks' holiday drinks. i had a toffee nut frappucino and a peppermint mocha latte last week. i have one more dark cherry mocha to conquer.
- reading romances. i spent my sunday evening wallowing in bed with rachel gibson's i'm in no mood for love.
- ramen. i had a wonderful bowl of ramen last tuesday on a cold, rainy day. it doesn't get any more perfect than that. mmm...
- aglio olio. something's up with me and noodles because i have had at least 3 plates of aglio olio in the last two weeks.
pass on the monday love!

shadow shot sunday: rubber bubble
hello everybody, how's your weekend so far? i had a full full saturday. i woke up really early at 8am (i am a terrible slob, i usually wake up at 11am on weekends) for breakfast with my good friend. after, i met other friends for a full afternoon of shopping. i came away with a pair of grey wedges and a black jumpsuit, things i wouldn't normally wear or buy so that's really exciting for me. i am flat out on my bed right now, catching up with everybody's blogs and planning my posts for the week ahead.
i didn't have a shadow until yesterday when i went for my office's happy hour. it had a retro theme and we got to play with games of yore. i zero-ed in for the bubbles. it's not a regular bubble but a gummy substance you can wind around a straw and then blow it up into a huge bubble. i placed it down in a patch of sunlight and unwittingly got my shadow shot sunday!
my neighbourhood #3
i shot this set on the way home from work. for once i was out of the office early for golden hour to be still hanging around by the time i got out of the subway. i especially love the tree shots.

shadow shot sunday: shadow shapes
i have a new shadow to share! this is my current favourite shadow shot. i noticed that the road barriers along the road i was walking along were making all this fantastic shapes where there the light shone through and i just had to stop and snap them. it looks more like a poster, doesn't it? It's a shadow, I swear!
If you have a shadow to share, go on to Harriet's blog to join in the fun! Happy Sunday, everybody!

golden half, rag day #7
consciously chose to shoot people with my golden half. i like to have themes when i shoot on my golden half so that i can have some sort of a narrative with all the half-frames. but of course, i will still be given to randoms because themes be damned when there's something interesting to shoot!
comparing this roll of pictures with the ones shot on the fuji reala, these are so much more vibrant. i really love the golden glow that the solaris film brings to all my shots.
