Rainy First Day, Taipei 2014

My trip to Taipei earlier in May was a milestone for me both personally and professionally. It was my first solo trip abroad and I was there to attend a conference at National Taiwan University (NTU) as a speaker. I had submitted a paper for consideration at an international conference and my paper was selected to be presented!

I landed in Taipei on a rainy and thundery Tuesday morning. According to student liaisons who picked me up at the airport, it was a freak thunderstorm rather than the regular, light, rain they were expecting. Although the rain continued relentlessly for the next two days, it let up for a little while as I walked through the NTU campus to the Main Library building to sign in for the conference.

Hong Kong in Black and White

I have one more set of photographs from Hong Kong where I decided to be experimental by popping in the Lomography Lady Grey 400 film into my LC-A+. They turned out better than I thought!

And as I write, I am packing for another trip to Hong Kong tomorrow morning!

Singapore Art Book Fair 2013

If you managed to tear your eyes away from the very dreamy Ryan Gosling, you might have realised how long ago this set of photographs were taken. Better late than never and at least it's up before the next fair.

Remembering Table 24

Table 24 officially shut its doors last week and Crazyworld held its last musical showcase on the 24 Temple Street premise just this past Sunday. While it's always sad to see something you love disappear (twice), what kept the last showcase from being a maudlin affair was the knowledge that all of us who know Edgar & Flo, the couple behind the Crazyworld brand and Table 24, will be back somehow and the music will go on.

I can't believe it's been three years since I first entered Crazyworld Cafe. From regular customers to casual weekend staff to friends, it's been a privilege getting to know Ed, Flo and later Richard (the amazing chef at Table 24 whose food is featured in the above photographs). Combined, they have helped to expand my musical and gastronomic horizons beyond belief. Whatever they move on to, I know it's going to be good.

So, it's just goodnight and not goodbye.
