hello, from bangkok.

hello friends! i have had a hectic two days trying to soak in the energy of this ever-moving city. yesterday was spent pounding sidewalks in siam square, breathing in the atmosphere (and city smog) and reacquainting myself with this city (this is actually my 5th time here!). today, my brother and i went shopping at platinum fashion mall in the pratunam district. we pounded the lanes of the shopping mall for about 5 hours before moving to the pratunam market in search of street food. show you all those photos soon! now, i am going off to finish my 500ml of beer (which cost only $1.50)!

hanlip toy museum

as we were walking though heyri, we came across the hanlip toy museum. the inner child in us were powerless to resist the call of the fun & memories of childhood that the museum would provide for us. (p/s: i have more pictures of the museum in a black & white roll that i have yet to develop)

.

in some exciting news, i will be going to bangkok, thailand tomorrow! my dad has been there a few times this year for a conference and he has been bugging for me and my brother to accompany him. we finally managed to juggle our schedules to do it this week! this is going to be our late fathers' day and early birthday treat for him, quality dad & kids time. well, as long as he and my brother don't get into an argument, they are so alike those two. so, this means more travel photos and more photo backlogs for this little blog!

zoo coffee

zoo coffee is possibly the most elegant yet cute cafe ever! stuffed toy animals are scattered all over classic, streamlined furniture. so lovely.

strolling through samcheong-dong

one part arty, one part traditional, add in two pinches of fashion and a spoonful of cafes, that is what you get with samcheong-dong!
. . . . .

happy father's day to all the dads out there! my brother and i brought our dad out to this humongous mall for dinner. we had a huge, hearty chinese meal and then strolled around the mall to walk our excesses. it was a simple affair but that's our style.

artistic bukchon-ro

bukchon is not only residential, it is also a haven for artists. we were strolling through the streets when we chanced upon a small gallery set in between residential houses. we peeped in and were invited by the artist herself to take a look around. the last two photographs are of her artworks. the dandelions flowers are amazingly intricate, they are really little sequins stuck onto pins that are then stuck onto styrofoam balls. i was blown away by the meticulousness of the artist in making sure the pins are evenly distributed to form that perfect sphere. the loofah in the last picture is humongous! it took up the whole of the room and was also handcrafted by the artist. so pretty...
