going home

we had the most amazing golden sunset sending us off on our flight out of bali, i couldn't stop taking photographs. it was that good.

a mish mash of photographs from my third & last day in bali. i would really love to go back one day and just laze around the hotel, pool and beach all day, doing nothing at all.

it's so fun to watch the surfers catch the waves. never a boring moment as you ooh and ahh over the heroics of some and gasp when they tumble off their boards.

beach shack community

the surfing beach shack community is a world entirely contained upon themselves. from the top of the cliff, you would think that it's all rock till it hits the waters but as you gingerly walk down the rough-cut steps, you find yourself in a complex full of surf shops and beach shacks serving food. we had our breakfast at one of  the little shacks, and the food was delicious. never judge a store by its decor!

when i first saw the roll, i totally burst out laughing at these two photos, how we were photo-perfect smiley one moment and then totally going back to our normal state of dorky! i think the photographer accidentally shot two photos because he wasn't sure how to use the SLR but what a blessing that turned out to be.

cafe below the stairs

this cafe is literally accessible only by going down a set of stairs from the hotel's dining room. as far as i am concerned, this cafe was perfect. it was just a few steps away from my hotel room, it overlooks the surf, serves great food and great drinks, all at a great price.
