Link-Ups, 1 May

Wow, can you believe that it's May already. In some respects, this year has been passing by really quickly and yet really slowly too. I feel like I have already done at least half a year's work but it's just May, only four months have been completed so far. The first two months of the year was all high-energy and my schedule was mad-packed. I found myself slowing down in March and April, becoming sluggish and choosing to hibernate more at home. Not good for the balance that I am seeking. May will be all about re-gaining that balance, achieving equal activity and rest.

x sfgirlbybay ponders what to do with a book addiction. i wonder too.

x Obviously Korean architect Moon Hoon doesn't have the same problem, because he built a library slash slide slash home theatre! (via Frankie)

x One of my favourite photographers, Brian W. Ferry, just launched his new website!

x I adore Rhianne's photographs of Norfolk. They are all so postcard-worthy!

x I think I am one of those persons who could alone happily in a cabin for awhile. Provided I have some books, some magazines and the internet.

x Did you know that some townhouses are not what they seem?

x Hanna visits Seoul, one of my favourite cities! I miss that place so much!

Link-Ups, 24 April 2013

Newly opened Hoshino Coffee at Plaza Singapura. Food from the menu was good, but I am not convinced about the pancake souffle (the highlight of the desserts menu).

Oops! I unintentionally missed out last week's edition of Link-Ups. I blame my aching thigh and calves muscles. Why? Because I just started a kickboxing class after weeks of inactivity and the instructor was torturous! Although my muscles were aching something horrible, it felt good to get some aerobic action in my life again. I have been feeling very sluggish lately and I need to get some blood pumping! Anyway, to make up for being MIA last week, I have double the usual amount of links to share. Enjoy!

x One day in Osaka with Sarah.

x Sally J Shim visits the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival. The cherry blossoms in Korea are lovely. With Airasia now offering (almost) direct flights to Busan, two other friends and me just made a pact over Friday night drinks to fly to Busan next year in April to see the Jinhae cherry blossoms with our own eyes. I can't wait to make this a reality.

x Mr and Mrs Globetrot (Yuriy and Julia) shares a sneak peek from their recent trip to Iceland. I cannot wait to see the rest of it!

x I am always thinking of how to make my office table a little more fun. After all, I spend more time at the office than I spend at home. May as well make it look good right? DesignLoveFest just redecorated her space and this is way beyond what I always dreamed about. But here's something  that I can actually do, once I neaten up my wires. Why does Windows have so many more wires than Macs.

x Justin Zhuang (noted local writer) puts together a list of indie magazines and journals in Singapore. I read or own about half of the publications on the list, but there are some I have not heard before and I am looking to get my hands on them for a browse.

x Don't sit around moaning about the horrible job market, get up and figure out how to score your dream internship.

x If you are about to embark on an internship this summer, you'd better read this. As someone who hires and works with interns at my 9-5, I found myself nodding along to a lot of the points.

Link-Ups, 10 April 2013

Along Lavender Street.

x Anna recently started up her Much Love Monday posts again. I am going to try and link-up to it whenever possible. I hope you participate too, the more the merrier!

x I really enjoyed these two posts from the sweet light this week. - Warm Lemon Water & My Polaroid Wall. The tones of the photographs just make me feel all warm & fuzzy. I never knew Kodak Ektar 100 could look like this. Might be time to bust out my last remaining roll.

x Like Teri of the beautiful food blog Spoon Fork Bacon, I never liked mushrooms very much until I got older. Looking at this Mezzi Rigatoni with Wild Mushroom Sauce is making my tummy cry out for some mushrooms pronto!

Link-Ups, 03 April 2013

A few snaps from Drips Bakery Cafe (Tiong Bahru).

x I stumbled upon Industry of One recently, a periodical on the wears of work. Contrasting feelings of hate (the good kind), jealousy (the good kind) and admiration (the best kind) will course through you as you read about the featured individuals.

x There is also Creative People Projects, a portrait project by Rebecca Toh (Casual Poet Culture), documenting the lives, projects and spaces of Singaporean and Taiwanese creatives.

x I have been following Jason Hudson's instagram for a while now. I vaguely noticed last year that he had started travelling in Australia and New Zealand but I only realised yesterday he and his partner Jeff are on a year-long Eat Gay Love adventure. How adorable is that name! I am really enjoying his instagrams of Bali (his current location), enhanced by my quick trip there over the weekend.

x It may be perpetually summer in Singapore but I noticed that nature doesn't really bother with technicalities like that. Flame of the Forest trees have been madly blooming all over the island, showering us in reds & yellows. The Sounds of Spring playlist from the always-inspiring Kinfolk team makes the hot days seem a little more spring-like.

x Brisbane | Gary Pepper Girl visits the Great Barrier Reef.

x Tokyo | HEY KUMO just made travelling to Tokyo a little easier by writing A Guide to a First Tokyo Trip.

x Cuba | Mr and Mrs Globetrot recap their trip to Cuba! I never thought Cuba would be so beautiful. The happy couple is currently on another trip to ethereal Iceland. I am really enjoying their instagram feeds at the moment. Here's Yuriy's and here's Julia's.

Link-Ups, 20 March 2013

A walk through Singapore's central district of Telok Ayer, October 2012.

x Follow along with Katie & Evelyn as they simultaneously post their film photographs of their adventures in Taiwan. Such a treat to see two different perspectives of the same place from these two friends.

x Exasperated at Google for discontinuing Google Reader (arguably one of the most essential tools for bloggers and their readers)? Not sure which RSS reader to use? I suggest Feedly (as suggested to me by Katie). Feedly syncs with your existing Google Reader and will do a seamless transfer of your feeds when Google Reader passes on. It's taking me some time to get used to it but it has to be said that Feedly is gorgeous to look at.

x I am still working on putting together an editorial calendar for this blog, and this post by Shauna Haider (Nubby Twiglet) was extremely timely and helpful.

x Still on the topic of editorial calendars, A Beautiful Mess' editorial calendar is a great physical reminder of what needs to be done. Also, they spill the beans on how they do it.
