Chye Seng Huat Hardware

Casting aside our usual procrastination, C & I visited Chye Seng Huat Hardware early one Sunday morning before the hordes descended. I must say, CSHH is one of the smartest-looking cafes in Singapore with elegant wood furnishings, staff in crisp blue shirts & navy aprons, and that 360 degrees coffee bar. So pretty.

Another thing that I must say, I really really like how the Lomography X Tungsten performed indoors. I am not sure what magic happened that day but I am going to try to recreate it more often.

Selfish Gene Cafe

When I have brunch, I usually go straight for the full plate of English breakfast. Eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and (preferably) brioche bread. Yum! There aren't many cafes with full English breakfasts where all the components are well-cooked and priced reasonably but Selfish Gene Cafe at Craig Road is one of them.

Just Want Coffee

A while ago, I was in the Outram Park area. Needing some caffeine, I headed towards Everton Park, intending to buy a cup at Nylon Coffee. But it was closed! Needless to say, I was disappointed. But now, my percentage chance of getting some coffee at any given time has increased with the opening of Just Want Coffee, a Malaysian cafe, within the Everton Park estate.

Just Want Coffee is a little different in vibe from the other coffee joints in the area. Perhaps, it's the gold-accented coffee cups or the quiet, lazy atmosphere. All I know is that I could sit here quietly for an entire afternoon, reading a book, sipping a cuppa. Something that would be difficult in other cafes in the surrounding area.
